Maxie Daviau Wins Miss Costa

Pageants are exciting! It was the perfect day and even more a perfect setting for the Miss Costa Rica 2009 Pageant on Sunday, September 14, 2008. A black tie affair, guests who had RSVP’d to be able to get a seat at the popular event arrived looking fabulous. Notable guests sitting in VIP Boxes above the stage were Frolic Mills, Giela Delpaso, Devon Dinzeo and Jonny Tobias. Or across the way, Costa Rica Executive Rowly Rousselot, who was later joined by Wet Snowdrop, Kira Ahn and Patty Cortes. There was the always beautiful supermodel Anessa Stine and with her Volcom Praga. The unique and stunning Dea Mills looked down upon the stage from above as well and was later joined by fashionable supermodel Payton Heron.

This year, Costa Rica Sims CEO Giancarlo Takacs was able to bring aboard the very popular Summer Deadlight to help him host the pageant and a fantastic job they did of it with easy, entertaining banter that kept the audience interested and smiling. It was a grand stage with classic, velvet green curtains and a polished light wood floor. It was obvious even from the start that Miss CR Coordinator, HarMonica Aabye, had done a wonderful job of bringing this pageant together. An impressive panel of judges waited to get a look at the four gorgeous contestants and they were: Maggie Mahoney, Vasgez and VictoriaV McMillan, Charlotte Bartlett, Isabel Brocco and Blazin Aubret.

And the pageant began, with excitement building for everyone as Announcer Sunshine Zhangsun echoed efficiently what Giancarlo and Summer were saying on voice for those who weren’t enabled. We watched the four contestants; Alexa Trefoil, Maxie Daviau, Sabein Streeter and Thea Denja walk out onto the stage in sexy red swimsuits and then elegant, vibrant dresses that made them look their best. We were treated to a live performance by RandyB Magic and then it was time for the ladies to answer one question. There were asked about their strengths and weaknesses and these answers were read by Miss Costa Rica 2008, Pup Witherspoon.

While the judges were deliberating we watched a video about the adventures of the contestants narrated by Summer Deadlight, that I imagine made several in the audience hope for an opportunity to be a contestant in a pageant such as this one in the future. And then it was finally time for the results to be announced! First Runner Up was Alexa Trefoil and the Winner was Runway Kid Maxie Daviau!! We all cheered wildly for her and the other lovely contestants before going outside to party by a simmering pool of water in a courtyard surrounded by Costa Rica greenery and colorful foliage with the backdrop being the gorgeous Costa Rica yacht sitting out in the water.

And there was a treat to come for those who chose to stay and dance. Live performer Louis Volare sung to us while playing instruments and wow’d us all with his smooth, mesmerizing voice. I couldn’t get enough and hope to attend another performance of his soon. It was a spectacular pageant. My kudos to all those involved in bringing it together. Thumbs up!
